Military theme, military organization
The Kill Team is a feature film directed by Dan Krauss, produced by Temple Hill Entertainment and Nostromo Pictures, based on a documentary film from the same director. Based on a true story, it’s about an American soldier in Afghanistan who finds himself facing a moral dilemma.
“The military aspect of this movie was something of a challenge, it really was different from productions I’m used to working on.”
We had to recreate an American military base in Madrid, Spain, and to organize a boot camp to prepare the actors. We stayed in Madrid for five weeks, and then went to shoot the Afghan desert scenes in the Canary Islands. With the Director of Photography, we decided to shoot a large portion of the movie with a hand-held camera.
SetKeeper made it easy to keep everyone on the same page
“The biggest part of the crew had the mobile app and used it every day to access their call sheet.”
We used SetKeeper for distribution, sending call sheets and documents and also for watermarking important files. It was actually the first time I used SetKeeper and I’m really convinced of its benefits. It was so easy to share information, we had a very good experience with it. We were used to handling things with simple emails, Dropbox or iCloud but SetKeeper made things a lot easier. It helped us to be constantly on the same page. The mobile app also really brought an added value as you could have access to every important files and information on your phone.
SetKeeper is definitely a tool I will use in the future
Production teams are using more and more these kinds of platforms, I really think we need to get used to them. It’s a very good tool right now for Production Coordinators, ADs and for all departments. I would also like to use more SetKeeper’s features in the future. On The Kill Team we only used it for distribution and watermarking. I do believe that having the whole experience of SetKeeper, using it in the different departments would be even better. That’s why I would for sure recommend SetKeeper on my upcoming productions.
